Citizen Publishing Company • Subscription Renewal Reminders

1. Program description

Citizen Publishing Company, publisher of the Cottonwood County Citizen and the Mt. Lake‑Butterfield Observer/Advocate, operates a text message program that reminds existing subscribers when their newspaper subscription is expiring or has become past due. This program sends renewal reminders only. It does not send promotional, marketing, or advertising messages.

2. How you join

You receive these texts only if you have asked us to send them, in one of three ways:

By checking the text‑message consent box on our online subscription checkout;
By checking the “Text” box and giving a cellphone number on the printed renewal notice we mail you; or
By asking our office by phone or at our counter.

Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchasing a subscription or any other goods or services.

3. Message frequency

You will receive up to 4 messages per year. Most subscribers receive one or two: a reminder shortly before the subscription expires, and, if it lapses, a single past‑due notice.

4. Cost

There is no charge from Citizen Publishing Company for this service. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile phone service plan. Check with your carrier if you are unsure of your plan’s charges.

5. How to stop messages

Reply STOP to any message from us to unsubscribe. You will receive one confirmation message and then no further texts from this program. You may also ask our office to remove you at any time. Opting out of texts does not cancel your subscription, and you will continue to receive renewal notices by email or by mail.

7. Supported carriers and delivery

Message delivery is subject to your carrier’s network and is not guaranteed. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Because delivery cannot be guaranteed, we also send renewal notices by email or printed mail.

8. Privacy

We never sell, rent, or share your information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt‑in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your information.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued participation in the program after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
